Five for Friday (finally on an actual friday)

1. We went to visit Ali and Spencer last Friday - it was so much fun to watch the little monkeys play. Abbie absolutely adores Spencer and he likes to pat her on the head :) they are hilarious together chit chatting in their own language (more like constant squeals)... We visited them again today for a bit - it was kind of a wild goose chase to american fork and then to springville and then back to american fork ... but we did find some good deals at Kohl's which made the chasing around worth it.
2. Tuesday we celebrated my Mom's birthday -- hooray! Abbie and I went and did some shopping at the Gateway to help her celebrate. I know it's late, but happy happy birthday mom - i think you are absolutely fabulous.

3. Thursday we celebrated my sister Tara's birthday -- hooray! she is actually in Jerusalem studying, but we threw a party anyway :) We had a pool party with yummy hamburgers and hot dogs and DELICIOUS rice krispie treats (thank you aunt LeAnne). Abbie loves to swim and she especially enjoyed splashing with her daddy - Happy Birthday Tara! thanks for giving us reason to party!!! we're so excited to see you in a few weeks.

4. We finally bought Abbie a high chair. We've been putting it off because we have SO much baby gear throughout the house we're running out of space to stash stuff, but we finally put her swing away (so sad) and juggled some things around and made room for the new addition. Abbie likes it and i do too...5. As previously mentioned (see #1) we made a trek down to Utah County today, which was great, but the drive home was a nightmare... well i guess i should say the drive from Bountiful to Farmington was a NIGHTMARE! abbie slept until bountiful and that's about when we hit major (lame, stupid, grrrrr, frustrating, obnoxious, out of hand, did i mention grrrr) traffic. abbie started flipping out, which she deserved to do (seeing as she'd been in the car most of the day and 2 hours the day before) i tried feeding her some dinner while we were at a stand still on the frontage road and she continued flipping out (and spitting her sweet potatoes at me). My mom decided to take things into her own hands and we pulled off on a side road to give abbie a break from the horrifying drive. We had a little picnic in the bed of the truck! abbie really appreciated the breather as did we. I must say the traffic was still nasty when we got back on the road, but abbie was a lot happier... struggles i know

back on schedule

Lots has happened in the past couple weeks so this might be a long update...
2 weeks ago Abbie had her 6 month Dr. appointment - it went super. she weighs 17 lbs and is almost 27 inches long - she's a growing machine. Her pediatrician gave me the "go-ahead" to pretty much feed abs anything so we've been trying lots of food. she has loved everything i give her thus far except WATER! which is a struggle for me because i absolutely love water - whenever i give it to her she gets a grossed out look on her face and spits it out... hopefully she'll "learn" to like it :)

Last week we went to Bear Lake for the Everton Reunion and it was so much fun. I was all bent out of shape about going (clark had to work and couldn't come) because Abbie is such a good sleeper at home and we have a routine so i hate throw her out of whack, but she did GREAT. she didn't even skip a beat and she loved spending time with all the extended family - to be honest i think she's a little bored to be home with just me now. We spent a few days at the lake, which abbie loved loved loved. she even took a nap under an umbrella, which i loved loved loved. she took her first assisted steps in the lake - which was so cute. she picks up her feet way high and steps down on her tippy toes. she's a doll. we also spent an afternoon at a park and abbie had her first swing experience which she also loved - we need to find a good park with swings around home ... anyone know of any? We had a great time at the reunion, but it was super nice to come home and to be with clark again.

Abbie also started saying "mama" this past week - i'm sure she doesn't know what she means, but it's darling. dont' worry another first - she is getting a tooth. It broke through a couple days ago and she has been an angel. i've expected fussiness out of her, but she hasn't struggled nearly as much as i thought - she's a tough little thing.

what else? we got a darling new cousin for abbie a couple of weeks ago - Dustin and Lindsay had a sweet baby girl - Grace Hensley Anderson. We are thrilled for them and are grateful everyone is healthy and doing well - congrats! we can't wait to meet her.

I know there are other things that have happened that i'm forgetting, but oh well - this is way too long. I'll try and be better on my "five for friday" - the past couple of weeks were just busy busy.

I'm wanting to give Abbie her first toe nail paint job :) any suggestions on how to keep those wiggly toes still while i attempt the impossible? i know it's a long shot... what a cheese ball - this girl's smile seriously lights up the room

five for not Friday

1. Last Saturday we ventured down to Provo to see Aunt Chelsie play in her softball game. Sadly, they lost, but it was great to see Chels and Mark and Spencer. Abbie wasn't super into the game, she was a lot more interested in playing with the tree behind where we were sitting ... She is one busy chica! 2. While in Provo (after Chelsie's game) we went to "J-Dawg's" for a yummy hot dog and were ever so disappointed when "Ella Good" was CLOSED!!! Of course we went to see Chelsie play, but i'll confess I was REALLY REALLY hoping i could try this yummy treat i've heard so much about - but it didn't happen and I am still upset...

3. Clark went to Vernal this past Thursday and Friday for work and then extended his trip thru Saturday to look for Elk at the Cabin, which left Abbie and I to fend for ourselves. We spent a lot of time at Grandma and Grandpa Anderson's (mostly at the pool). Abbie loves swimming and being outside, she looks forward to our daily walk(s) and anytime she can sit with her toes in the grass. Grandma and Grandpa took us out for mexican food on Friday night - yummy yummy. it's a small place downtown farmington and it was super tasty!
4. We went on Friday morning and had Abbie's 6 month pictures taken - they are all SO darling. I don't get them back until the 29th and that seems so far away! Here are a few of my favorite pictures that i've taken of her this past week - hopefully i'll be able to post some of the ones i ordered once i get them!
Abbie loves to play in rubbermade containers :) she especially loves her daddy to push her (or fly her) around the house.
It was after she had been hanging out in bin for a while that i found this sticker on the lid - haha, i laughed... how terrible of a mother am i
5. Last, but definitely not least. I have a hilarious, but maybe inappropriate story to share ... the other night abbie and i had just gone swimming and i wanted to hop in the shower before she went to bed so i put her on my bed to hang out while i showered and i laid my clean clothes out on the bed near her... i left my bathroom door open so i could peek on her during my shower-she just played happily. When i got out of the shower i found the funniest sight - abbie was in the process of pulling my sleep bra over her head! I rushed to find my camera and when i got back she was "wearing" the bra ... i don't remember the last time i laughed as hard as this - it was so super funny ... i dont' know, maybe you had to be there, but this little girl makes me smile

6 months old

I cannot believe that little Abbie is 6 months old. We had a little "party" on Saturday to celebrate ... We had a "6" party (lame i know, but i had to do something) we had ...
6 balloons
6 cupcakes
6 gifts
6 guests
and sixlets :)

and of course our 6 month old! It was more of a party for me rather than her - she couldn't have cared less about the gathering, except the cupcakes ... she loved those :) We were trying to get a picture of her with the cupcakes and she just dove in - crazy girl!
We had such a great time celebrating our little monkey - thanks for coming mom and dad and Chels and Brian! The past six months have been the greatest...who would have thought a little person could make you this happy!

FIVE FOR FRIDAY

1. Abbie is a rolling maniac. She has recently discovered that rolling actually gets her somewhere. It's so fun to watch her cruise around, but i think it's time to get some gates for our stairs seeing that our entire house is really one big staircase!
2. Abbie's hair is super straight like mine, but when it's wet it curls up ... in an effort to keep these curls i put some gel in her hair (for the first time EVER) and she had some crunchy curls atop her head. they were cute, but ended up kind of looking like a guy from the 80's ... you be the judge, but i don't know that i'm going to be doing again :)

3. Abbie has had a cold this past week so we spent a lot of time at home trying to get her feeling better. i feel so bad for her with her little runny nose. Anyway, she's feeling better and our humidifier really helps. Spending lots of time at home naturally equals random photo ops .... i don't think these qualify as child abuse ...I bought this container to store Abbie's toys in, but she seems to enjoy playing with it more than most of her toys :)Clark and i swaddled her up the other day - just for old times sake - she's our little muslim monkey :)

4. I really love Rod Works - it's a great home decor store. I went there this past week with my Mom and found a darling plate - they always have cute ideas and i can always find something to purchase there (which can be a bad thing) -- anyone who hasn't experienced Rod Works - you need to.

5. Yesterday Grandpa Anderson took Abbie swimming and she loved it. She is a natural little swimmer, she was even kicking her legs! Thanks grandpa for teaching her how to swim laps - she wants to come and go again soon

Five for Friday - sorry, Holiday Weekend

1. On Tuesday we ventured to Abbie's first cultural experience (and possibly her last). Ali, Grandma, and I took the kids to the Monet to Picasso Exhibit at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts. I must say it wasn't quite as neat as i had hoped, but that could be partly because Spencer and Abbie made it a super quick visit. Abbie and her cousin loved the echoing sound their voices made in the museum so they "chatted" the entire time. I thought it was darling, but one of the security guards wasn't impressed. She actually asked me to give Abigail a pacifier so she'd be quiet. HELLO! i realize they were probably distracting the other people in the exhibit, but if you don't want children (doing what children do) in the museum then don't allow them! grrrr, i was irritated, but we made it through and the kids actually enjoyed sitting on the grass outside the museum more - probably the worst 15 bucks i ever spent.

2. Abbie and I have started going on a walk every morning before her morning nap... It's the coolest time of the day and she loves to be outside. I'm sure my neighbors think we're weirdos because we're usually both in jammies :)

3. We spent our holiday weekend up at the Caldwell's cabin in Scofield. It was definitely nice to get away, but abbie struggled with sleeping. We had to sleep in the same room and she is used to being in her own room ... needless to say we got very little sleep and i went home a day early so she could get some good rest, which she did. Other than the lack of sleep we had a great time relaxing and enjoying the beautifulness that is Scofield. Abbie got to play with her cousins, which she loves.

4. Abigail went for her first fourwheeler ride at the cabin. Clark and i took her for a short ride and she thought it was great, i'm sure they'll be many many more to come.

5. We celebrated Clark's 26th birthday on July 4th. He's such an old man! I just want him to know that i think he is fabulous. He is the greatest father to our little monkey and a super husband. Abbie and i are so lucky have him in our life. We love you clark and Happy late Birthday :)

I love these pictures of Abbie and her dad on the lawn mower ... i had to share!
