Conversations with Abigail.

(outside the dentist's office)
Today Abbie and I were out enjoying the October weather in the backyard and the conversation went a little something like this:
A:  "Mama, when Caleb (little neighbor boy that moved away) was over here playing there was a big bumblebee on the slide"
M:  "wow, that's scary"
A:  "Caleb stomped on it, he saved my life mom - like i was a princess"
M:  "Caleb was a nice friend"
A:  "Ya, i don't love him, but i miss him"

Tonight i was putting Abbie to bed and she was a little restless (surprise surprise)
M:  "Abbie, it's time to go to sleep"
A:  "mama, do you want to feel my heartbeat?"
M:  "yes i do"
i put my hand on her chest
A:  "do you hear it beating to the beat?"
M:  "yes i hear it.  It's time for bed now sweetheart"
A:  "mama, can i feel your heartbeat?"
M:  "yes you can"
she puts her hand on my chest
A:  "wow, your heart is beating to the beat too"

These two crack me up.  I took these pictures after we painted our nails

Conversations with Abigail.

Tonight while eating dinner our conversation went a little something like this:
A:  "what's wrong with you mama?"
M:  "i'm just tired."
A:  "tired of me?"
M:  "No, i love you."
A:  "tired of daddy?"
M:  "sometimes. but, no i love your dad."
A:  "oh."
M:  "are you tired of me?"
A:  "sometimes." "sometimes a lot."

haha, wow. gotta love those honest 3-year olds.

the other day we were driving home from running errands and we passed our church.
M: "look Abigail, there's our church."
A:  "you're right mama.  you have good eye sight!"

Abigail

My Abigail is a feisty gal. She's busy, bold, and brave.
She is also a thinker, she's smart, she's tender.

Lately she's been talking a lot about when she "grows down".  She seems to think that she grows up and then she grows "down" (young).
Tonight as i was putting her to bed she said "Mama, i really want to grow back down." then she began crying. i asked her why she wanted to be little again and she said this: "because i love rice cereal and i want to fit in the jumparoo again, i don't fit in it anymore  (tears) and i want you to hold me like you hold baby sister".
we talked for a bit about the cool things that big girls get to do like ride bikes, pump on the swing, run and play with friends, and how babies can't do those things.  I think i talked her into staying big.
it makes me happy tho.  that she wants to stay little forever. I want her to stay little forever too.

backyard baseball

A few nights ago we had a picnic in the backyard for dinner followed by some baseball.  Abbie loves playing what she calls "bat".  We pitch her the ball. She could do it for hours.  Last week we were playing and she hit the ball 13 times in a row!!! 4 of which went over the fence.  This girl has skills.

"mom will you throw the ball for me? you're better than daddy"
(not joking she really came and said that, hahah)

E just laid on the blanket and watched. the girl loves being outside.

Miss her like crazy

Today is Abbie's first day of Preschool.
I tried to talk her into staying home.
She didn't go for it.
I cried the whole drive home and then some.
Baby steps to 11:30 when I get to pick her up.

little girls are sweethearts

Emma has a favorite.
It's obvious with her first word choice.

Abbie says the cutest things.
2 nights ago we were outside swinging on the swing-set before tub-time and all of the sudden Abbie started screaming frantically.  She froze and was screaming in horror.  I ran to her and she said "there's a bee on me, get it off! get it off!" (the girl was terrified).  I quickly brushed the hornet off her skirt and held her tight - calmed her down and when she was calm my little Abbie said "i'm sorry for screaming.  Next time a bee lands on me i'll just say: mama, will you please get the bee off me".
isn't she darling?
and she's taken quite a liking to the neighbor's kittens. she asks me several times a day if we can have one.
