One Year Older...

Our little Abbie turned 3 today!

She is such an energetic little girl and we are so thrilled and blessed to have her in our life. She is constantly surprising me with the things she says and does.
She is currently:
loving all things princess
loving her dance class
enjoying big floor puzzles
still taking an awesome 2-3 hour nap daily
loving marshmallow mateys (she calls them "shmarshmellows")
constantly playing pretend anything
constantly talking to her unborn baby sister (she'll randomly run up to my stomach and say "i love you baby sister"
talking. talking. talking.Abbie is so much fun and we had a great day celebrating her birthday. We cannot wait until dad gets back in town on Friday so we can celebrate with him!

Dance Recital

Abbie had her first (of many i'm sure) dance recital last week. It was extremely entertaining! She did great - i'll have to figure out how to post a video of her performances. She was in 2 dances and she loved every minute. We're so proud of our little dancer

Conversations with Abigail

Yesterday Abbie and I were driving in the car and this is part of the conversation we had:

Me: "Abbie what do you think we should name baby sister?"
Abbie: "ummmm, how 'bout Briar Rose"

looks like this girl has been reading a bit too many princess books(Halloween 2010)

Grandpa Great

My sweet Grandpa passed away this past Saturday and I've been unsure how to tell Abbie about it. She adores her Grandpa Great and loves visiting his farm ... tonight we had this conversation before bed

I handed her this photo and said "Whose in this picture?"
Abbie: "You, me, Grandpa Dan and Grandpa Great. I love Grandpa Great on his farm"
Me: "Sweetheart Grandpa Great isn't going to be at the farm when we go visit anymore"
Abbie: with a sad face "Why?"
Me: "He went to live in Heaven with Jesus"
Abbie: "oh no, mom I love Grandpa Great"
Me: "I know, and he loves you too - we'll get to see him again"
Abbie: "okay. cause i like him"

It was such a tender conversation, one that put me in tears. My Granpa was a sweet man who is one of the greatest examples I have of genuine love. I am so glad that Abbie was able to get to know him.

today's dance class

Abbie has been loving her weekly dance class - and it is pure entertainment for me too. The little girlies are so darling and hilarious to watch. They have been doing some really cute dances during the month of October where they have broomsticks and witches hats - love it. Can't wait for the Christmas recital!stirring the witches brewteddy bear dance
boogieing - love the pointer fingers
i love her riding the broomstick backwards. haha
quick funny story. A few weeks ago the teacher was having the girls do a dance where she has them dance like they are happy, sad, mad, silly, etc. (and the music changes accordingly) I was sitting out in the waiting area and I heard the teacher tell the girls to dance like they're mad and she asked "have you ever been mad?" and i hear abbie's little voice say "my mama gets mad!"

Conversations with Abigail

Our Abbie is a talker - the girl talks from the moment she gets up to the moment she goes to bed. She is in that phase where she says really random yet sincere and honest things...

a few days ago:
A(bigail): i love you dad
D(ad): i love you too Abbie. who else do you love?
A: i love mama and baby sister. i am going to teach my baby sister how to dance
(oh yeah btw, we're having another girl)

tonight when i got home from the gym:
A: did the gym make you happy mama?
M(om): yes, it did
A: oh i am so excited for you (with a big hug for me)

tonight while i was getting her dressed in her jammies:
A: mama, you have a big belly
M: oh - thanks Abbie
A: you're welcome (with a giggle)

yesterday:
A: (pointing at my stomach) that's a baby brother
M: No sweetie, it's a baby sister
A: well, we need some more then

a few days ago while jumping on the trampoline:
M: blah blah
A: you hear that sound mama?
M: what sound?
A: imitating the sound - blah blah
M: maybe it came from over there (pointing in the opposite direction)
A: looks the other way
M: blah blah
A: turns around to face me - oh, mama - you make me laugh

Our little girl really is pure entertainment (exhausting, but entertaining) we love her and think she's going to be the best big sister!
